Navigating the changes: Implications of general safety regulation for automotive ecosystem
European original equipment manufacturers are urged to take these new regulations into account as early in the product development phase as possible to reduce costs and time to market. This could result in longer testing timeframes for GSR II compliance as they must now make sure that all required safety functions are installed in vehicles
To keep up with the technological advances and to better protect road users, EU has revised its General Safety Regulation with Regulation 2019/2144, (GSR II). It introduces a range of mandatory advanced driver assistant systems (ADAS) to improve road safety and establishes parts of the legal framework for the approval of automated and fully driverless vehicles in the EU.
