Shell, Zeon to produce sustainable butadiene for tire rubber manufacturing
The bio butadiene-based synthetic rubber will be used to manufacture fuel-efficient tires for passenger vehicles
Japanese chemical company Zeon Corporation announced via press release on 25 October that it had signed an MoU with oil and gas company Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd. to manufacture and supply biomass-derived butadiene for application in Zeon’s solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) manufacturing activities.
