Understanding the European Data Act’s impact on the connected car landscape
Response to the Data Act proposal remains disjointed, with supporters even putting forward recommendations for fairly significant changes or clarifications. Even so, the act could be adopted as soon as the fourth quarter of 2022, although many expect this window to push beyond the calendar year, which would see compliance mandated in late 2023 or into 2024.
With amendments to the European Data Act being heard through the end of October, S&P Global Mobility analysts have put together a rundown of the proposal to date, as well as industry responses in favor and in opposition.
