Front Cross-Traffic Alert safety system to gain traction in the coming years?
The FCTA market is going to be led by the growing need to perform better in the NCAP safety program followed by potential future regulation mandating AEB-cross-traffic/FCTA in the EU and the US
Front cross-traffic alert (FCTA) monitors vehicles approaching from the blind areas on the front left and right sides. When a vehicle begins to drive at an intersection or exits a small street/parking lot, FCTA identifies vehicles approaching from either side in a direction perpendicular to the ego vehicle. Radar or cameras on each side of the bumper may be used by systems to assist drivers in detecting other objects as they approach an intersection.
