IIHS, HLDI call on federal regulators to mandate pedestrian AEB that works at night
The agency intends to begin rulemaking on pedestrian AEB requirements for new passenger vehicles by 2024
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) filed a petition to federal regulators to mandate manufacturers to equip Automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems capable of detecting passengers in low light or dark conditions as well as in daylight, according to IIHS press release on 28 March 2022.
