Russia-Ukraine conflict: Sumitomo Electric to move wire harness production out of Ukraine
The supplier is transferring production from Ukraine to Romania and Morocco
Japanese supplier Sumitomo Electric will transfer production of wire harness from Ukraine to plants in Romania and Morocco due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Nikkei Asia reported on 22 March. Sumitomo had suspended operations at its factory in western Ukraine at the end of last month, The transfer of production could cost the supplier around USD84 million, but its major customer Volkswagen may cover part of the expense, said the report.
