BMW Group invests in US based lithium extraction technology startup Lilac Solutions

BMW Group’s purchasing department plans to source lithium directly from the mines and make it available to the battery cell suppliers

To promote environment-friendly, resource-efficient extraction of lithium required for its large-scale electric vehicle plans, the BMW Group, through its venture capital fund BMW i Ventures, is investing in an innovative process developed by the US-based lithium extraction technology startup, Lilac Solutions, the German automaker said in a press release on 6 October.
