The global parts shortage now involves not just microcontroller unit (MCU) chips, but also components used in the semiconductor packaging process such as lead frames, substrates, and resins as well as non-semiconductor components like wiring harnesses

Despite chip plants effectively running on full capacity, the global chip-shortage crisis may not be resolved next year, warned executives from German automotive companies during the IAA Mobility 2021 show in Munich.
