NCAP plans to add new generation ADAS tech to its feature rating system
To promote the development of advanced safety technologies, which are likely to greatly improve automotive safety, many NCAPs are adopting additional evaluation guidelines for advanced safety systems.
Automakers have developed safety enhancement features that could reduce the number and severity of accidents—the innovation developed by component manufactures an opportunity to upgrade vehicle safety and save lives. The most noteworthy of these innovations' technologies are automated driving assistance system (ADAS) that can mitigate the harm caused by a vehicle. A prime example is highway assist, a technology designed to make motorway driving safer by reducing fatigue and encouraging safe driving. Highway Assist helps the driver to maintain a steady speed and to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane by combining (intelligent) adaptive cruise control (ACC) with lane centering (LC).
