Ford to launch recall of 2.9 million vehicles to replace defective airbag inflators from Takata

US automaker will start notifying affected vehicle owners from 1 April

Ford will proceed with the previously announced recall of 2.9 million vehicles equipped with defective airbag inflators after its petition was turned down by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in January 2021, the automaker said in a press release on 12 March.
