Automakers are expected to offer seat occupant reminder systems in a wider range of models in the country over the next five years using different technology platforms

Heatstroke is one of the leading causes of noncrash fatalities among children in vehicles in the United States. According to NoHeatStroke.org, 873 children have died since 1998 because of heatstroke in vehicles. This year (as of 8 October), 24 children have died from heatstroke in vehicles in the country. Heatstroke occurs when a child is left unattended inside a vehicle parked under direct sun, which causes the temperature inside the vehicle to rise very quickly.
