European Parliament approves mandatory fitment of select active safety technologies in new vehicles
AECA supports approval by the European Parliament but expects reasonable time for automakers before new rules become applicable
On Thursday (21 February) the Internal Market Committee MEPs of the European Parliament (EP) approved a draft law that will make fitment of select active safety technologies mandatory in new vehicles sold in the European Union (EU), according to a press release by EP. The new rules, proposed by the European Commission in May 2018, was approved by the EP’s Internal Market Committee MEPs by majority of 33 votes to two.
