The bus is equipped with sensors to continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings

Volvo Buses is demonstrating an autonomous bus during the Volvo Ocean Race 2018 (14-21 June) in Gothenburg, Sweden, the automaker said in a press release on 18 June. The 12-meter long autonomous bus is based on a commercially produced electric city bus and is designed to offer passenger a safe and comfortable ride. The bus is equipped with sensors to continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings. The information generated through sensors is used to navigate the vehicle. In future, this information will also be used to prevent accidents by identifying objects approaching to the vehicle and taking necessary actions including adjusting its speed or stopping altogether.
