Autoliv signs agreement with Velodyne to commercialise Lidar
Swedish supplier will also act as primary commercial and technical interface to customers for awarded business
Autoliv has signed an agreement with US-based Lidar specialist Velodyne to develop and commercialize Lidar for self-driving cars, the Sweden-based supplier said in a press release on 3 July. The automotive grade, scalable Lidar will use Velodyne’s proprietary Lidar ASIC engine and 3D software technology and Autoliv’s component development and verification capability. The high-performance Lidar, developed through the collaboration, will be first used in self-driving taxis. Autoliv will act as primary commercial and technical interface to customers for awarded business.
