Subaru takes slower approach for self-driving cars – report
Introduces latest version of EyeSight driver assist system
Subaru is taking a slower approach to develop self-driving cars, saying its vehicles may be less advanced than rivals by 2020, Reuters reported on 19 June. At a recent event to showcase the new functions of its driver assist system EyeSight, the automaker said its goals for autonomous driving are modest compared with bigger rivals. “We're not aiming to develop driverless cars. What we're trying to do is make driving safer for people." Tetsuo Onuki, chief general manager at Subaru's technical research centre, told Reuters last week.
