Uber begins ride-sharing service in Myanmar
Ride-sharing company to hire only government-accredited drivers for its service in Yangon
Uber has launched its ride-sharing service in Yangoon, Myanmar, Reuters reported on 11 May. The US-based ride-sharing company is hiring government-accredited taxi drivers for its service in Myanmar. “Having the government support from day one is pretty powerful. Drivers know we are fully compliant with existing regulations. That does grease the wheels,” said Sam Bool, Uber’s expansion general manager for Southeast Asia, told Reuters.
