JCI, Aqua Metal tie up for battery recycling technology

US battery maker picks stake in Aqua Metal

Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) has reached a multi-faceted agreement with Aqua Metal for electrochemical battery recycling technology, the US-based company said in a press release on 9 February. Under the agreement, JCI will become licensee of Aqua Metal’s AquaRefining™ technology. The company will supply its batteries for recycling to Aqua Metal and purchase AquaRefined metals produced from Aqua Metals' facilities.
