AFTC's new policy will target advertisements that show drivers taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road

The Automobile Fair Trade Council (AFTC), a Japanese automotive group, plans to lay down new rules to crack down on misleading advertising about the safety of automated driving technology. According to a report on Nikkei, the AFTC's new policy will target advertisements that show drivers taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road. It also seeks to remove phrases such as "fully automated driving" or "safe automated driving" that may mislead drivers into thinking they can leave everything to the car. As part of the new guidelines, the automotive group will outline specific rules for advertising in all forms of media.
