VW's Czech unit plans to launch pure EV in 2020

Skoda will begin its electromobility programme in 2019 when it will launch a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its range-topping Superb sedan and estate, according to an Autocar report. These models will act as a prelude to a full EV Skoda, which will arrive in 2020 using VW Group technology. Skoda CEO Bernhard Maier said the PHEV Superb will use the same basic technological underpinnings as the Passat GTE, and that further Skoda models, including a PHEV variant of the Kodiaq, will follow at a later date.
