In recent years, the software algorithms and speaker technology has reached a level where automakers can offer a 3D Audio experience. Thus far, these systems are very expensive options on already expensive cars. Most of the marketing push has been toward a prestige and exclusivity of an audio system that rivals movie theaters. However, it’s the high-end sounds systems that represent the biggest new opportunity. An opportunity to help reduce driver distraction, as opposed to causing it. In this case, audio systems could become more valuable for non-entertainment functions.
