Involves imported Magotan cars produced between 14 October 2015 and 9 February 2016 and is due to design defects.

Volkswagen (VW) will recall 486 vehicles in China due to issues with the sunroofs, reports Xinhua news agency, quoting the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). The recall involves the imported Magotan cars produced between 14 October 2015 and 9 February 2016. The company's statement said that "due to design defects, the sunroofs of these vehicles may not function properly and pose safety risks", reports Xinhua.

Significance: VW will fix the affected modules for free. Vehicle recalls are gaining ground in China as the AQSIQ is increasingly vigilant as the country's quality watchdog. This resulted in more than 1.86 million vehicles being recalled in China in the first quarter, according to the AQSIQ. VW has made a number of recalls this year in China, including more than 103,000 cars being recalled in Apri, following a recall of 78,000 vehicles in January.
