Toyota restarted production operations at all its remaining quake-affected assembly lines in Japan from today (6 May), reports Kyodo News. The automaker's lines were halted after two earthquakes hit the southern Japanese city of Kumamoto, in Kyushu prefecture, last month and disrupted key supply chains for the automaker. Five Toyota assembly lines in four domestic plants resumed operations from 25 April. Two lines resumed at the Tsutsumi plant, where Toyota produces Prius hybrid cars, and assembly lines were also reactivated at Toyota Industries' Nagakusa plant in Obu, Aichi, Toyota Motor East Japan's Higashi Fuji plant in Susono, Shizuoka prefecture, and Iwate plant in Kanegasaki, Iwate prefecture.
