Brazil pushes for trade deal as competition from Mexico increases increases
VW and FCA plan new investments in the region, while GM considers its options
The governments of Brazil and Argentina have agreed to renegotiate an automotive free-trade agreement (FTA) to replace the current quota system. Brazil’s trade minister has previously said said that he will propose free trade in vehicles and auto parts with Mexico as well. Such free-trade arrangements would compare with the current quota-based agreements.
