Yutong to open bus plant in Venezuela
Opening its new Venezuelan plant in October
Chinese bus-maker Yutong is opening its new Venezuelan plant in October, according to Chinese media reports, citing Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro. "This will be the most modern bus manufacturing plant in Latin America and the Caribbean. Venezuela will produce its own buses and we are going to export them," said Maduro. Venezuela's land transportation minister, Haiman El Troudi, said Yutong's factory would be built in the western state of Yaracuy and would have a production capacity of 3,500 buses per year. Maduro also said that at least 90 Venezuelan cities have adopted the BusCaucagua surface transportation system, operated with Yutong buses. He added there are 235 routes using 2,414 Yutong buses currently.
