Japanese component supplier NGK Spark Plug will construct a factory in Thailand for making parts for spark plugs used in automobiles and motorcycles, reports the Nikkei financial daily. The company will invest nearly JPY3 billion (USD30 million) to build the plant in the Amata Nakorn industrial park in east Thailand, where it has acquired a 120,000-square-metre plot for the purpose. Slated to come onstream in 2015, the plant will make metal parts for spark plugs and supply them to the company’s assembly plants in Europe and China. It will initially produce 18 million units annually, with plans to raise output to 140 million units by 2020.
