We are thrilled to announce a series of new enhancements to our Model Level Component Forecasts. If you subscribe to any of the forecasts mentioned below, then the enhancements will automatically be included in your current subscription

Understand how these updates will elevate your decision-making process:

AUTONOMY

Component Forecast Name Change

“Applications + Sensors” has been renamed to “Sensors by Application” to better reflect that Sensors are the component tracked and enumerated in volumes in this component forecast. Application details serve as a means to filter or segment Sensor volumes, but no Application or Vehicle volumes are available in this table. There are no changes to attributes or dictionaries.

Updated Component Forecast Table

New attributes have been added to the Autonomy Applications Forecast for clients of the full Autonomy Bundle. These new attributes describe the number of sensors equipped to that vehicle version as well as a combined Sensor Package concatenate.

Enabled by new post-processing of the Autonomy Sensor Forecasts, these new attributes include:

  • Total Camera Count, plus individual camera counts for FVCInterior, and Other positions
  • Total Radar Count, plus individual radar counts for FrontRearCorner FrontCorner RearInterior, and Other positions
  • Total Lidar Count
  • FVC Type (e.g. Mono-Windshield, Stereo-Windshield, etc)
  • Sensor Package concatenate in the format “1V5R3L” to describe the total number of Vision (camera), Radar, and Lidar sensors in that vehicle version.

Note: A few exceptional brands or vehicle configurations (e.g. Tesla transitioning FVC from Trifocal to Dualfocal mid-lifecycle) may produce duplicative counts when sensor data is processed and summarized in this format. All clients are encouraged to refer to the combined Sensors Forecast or individual Camera/Radar/Lidar Forecasts for the most comprehensive view of sensor content per vehicle and sensor volumes generally.

In addition to combining all sensor counts into the Sensor Package concatenate at the vehicle level, this format also places basic sensor counts adjacent to vehicle volumes and hence allows for new analysis:

  • Sensor count * vehicle volume for close approximations of total sensor volume (continue to refer to Sensor Forecasts for accurate sensor volumes accounting for various exceptions such as the Tesla mid-lifecycle FVC transition)
  • Average number of X sensors per vehicle produced/sold
  • Average number of X sensors per vehicle produced/sold when X sensor is equipped to the vehicle
  • Share of vehicles equipped with or without X sensor

Given that this Sensor Package content combines both Sensor and Application/Vehicle attributes in the same forecast, these additional attributes are only available to clients of all Autonomy Forecasts in the Autonomy Bundle. If you would like to view a sample of the new data, please contact your account manager or jeremy.carlson@spglobal.com for assistance.
