We are thrilled to announce a series of new enhancements to our OEM and Model Level Component Forecasts. If you subscribe to any of the forecasts mentioned below, then the enhancements will automatically be included in your current subscription
What is being enhanced: Sensor unit pricing that is used to calculate revenues in CFA
Applied to Camera, Radar, Lidar Sensor forecasts, and Autonomy Level revenues (shown via the sum of Application software and Sensor hardware prices)
Benefits for clients: Provides clients with a refined revenue outlook for all sensors
Internal modelling now references geography to account for lower unit prices in China versus other global markets
What is being enhanced: Consumer Electronic (CE) Module and Telematics Type fields have been removed from our Telematics forecasts and HMI Technology Suite (Sales and Production).
Benefits for clients: The removal of these fields was done to better align with current and future connected vehicle market trends. CE based telematics that leverage a consumer device, such as a smartphone or USB dongle have been phased out in favor of embedded solutions that make use of a built-in 4G LTE or 5G module.
By removing these fields, the classification of a Telematics Type (Embedded, CE, Hybrid (Embedded+CE)) is no longer applicable, as all telematics systems tracked are assumed to be embedded.
What is being enhanced: The field “Battery heater type” has been expanded to include more heater types. The options now include PTC, Thick Film, and Tubular to describe the type of heater used to heat the battery.
Benefits for clients: The inclusion of additional battery heater types offers clients a more visibility on the type of battery heater technology. Previous options were limited to “PTC” and “other” for all applicable vehicles.
What is being enhanced New technology and Supply-chain fields for Outer Heat exchanger are being added.
Benefits for clients: Value enhancement adding information about another individual component to your forecast
We are thrilled to announce a series of new enhancements to our Component Forecast Analytics, designed to provide our customers with deeper insights and improved functionality. These enhancements span multiple components under seven of our key domains: Propulsion, SDV: UI/UX, E/E and Semiconductor, Interior, Thermal and Battery.
What is changing: The “Propulsion Segmentation” field in forecasts for EE Architecture, Zone Controller, and Cockpit Domain Controller is being enhanced. The new “VP: Platform Subgroup Design Type” is introduced in the Light Vehicle Production (LVP) forecast, categorizing propulsion types into Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), and Multi-Energy vehicles. This update replaces the previous external mapping that led to an “unknown” category for about 13% of vehicles.
Benefits for clients: Clients will benefit from a more precise and aligned segmentation, improving the usability of the data. The field is now populated with clear values: “BEV,” “ICE,” and “Multi-Energy.” This change ensures complete alignment with the Powertrain forecast and eliminates the “unknown” category. The “Multi-Energy” designation encompasses vehicles with multiple propulsion types, such as the VW Golf and hybrids. This enhancement increases the value provided by offering clearer insights into vehicle propulsion types, particularly for those with multiple options, thereby facilitating better decision-making.
What is changing: Supplier Plant, Country/Territory and Region fields have been added to our Center Stack Display and Instrument Cluster Sales forecasts
Benefits for clients: The new fields will enable clients to gain deeper insights into the global distribution of supplier production facilities and regional manufacturing trends. This enhancement allows clients to identify production hotspots and evaluate supplier footprints by geography, analyze regional trends and shifts in Center Stack Display and Instrument Cluster production, make strategic sourcing decisions by aligning procurement strategies with localized production, and gain a competitive edge by understanding the geographical dynamics of supply chains for these components. These updates provide more granular visibility, empowering better decision-making in sourcing, logistics, and market strategy.
What is changing: We are adding Switchable Glass Fitment and Switchable Glass Tech Type have been added to our leading Sunroof forecasts
Benefits for clients: The new fields will enable you to have a deep dive in the switchable glass market. It allows you to see the different OEM strategies for switchable glass fitments and the underlying technology. Switchable glass types are categorized in SPD, PDLC, EC and GHLC technologies.
What is changing: We are adding new fields for Battery Capacity Band (kWh), Battery Cell Cathode Material Group, Battery Coolant System Design, Battery Pack Cooling Medium, Battery Pack DC Charging C Rate Class, allow with a new time series showing the Battery Demand (kWh)
Benefits for clients: The Battery Capacity Band (kWh) will facilitate more effective segmentation of battery sizes, in particular when leveraging Component Forecast Analytics. Similarly, Battery Cell Cathode Material Group will bucket battery volumes based on a more aggregated chemistry definition to support analysis of, for example, LFP vs NCM based battery cathode materials. Battery Pack DC Charging C Rate Class provides the same functionality by grouping values into industry standard integer numbers of 1C, 2C, 3C etc. Battery Coolant System Design and Battery Pack Cooling Medium lift important technical fields from our battery thermal forecast for use by High Voltage Battery and Battery Pack customers. And finally, our new Battery Demand time series presents battery volumes on a more useful kWh basis in our query tool.
What is changing: Inverter Design Parent, System Integration Group and System Integration Definition fields have been added to our Propulsion Value Chain, E-Motor, E-Motor Value Chain, and Propulsion Bundle forecasts.
Benefits for clients: Inverter design parent will allow clients to begin tracking fully the print to build market for inverters that is developing globally. As OEMs aiming to vertically integrate more key technologies, the inverter is emerging as a target for in-house design. System Integration Group and System Integration Definition provide clients with insight into the latest drive unit trend emanating from Greater China in particular. The growing presence of complete vertical integration and the want to expand global footprint is driving OEMs and some suppliers to further integrate more and more components into the single drive unit, providing them with benefits from a cost, design and vehicle integration perspective.
What is changing: We are adding new component fields for Outer Heat Exchanger Type, Integrated Receiver/Drier, Refrigerant Tank Expansion Valve and additional supplier information to the following component forecasts E-Mobility HVAC (Level 3), Integrated Thermal Module (Level 3) and ITM:Refrigerant Module
Benefits for clients: The new fields will deliver further detail and differentiation in our ‘Type’ fields. We will also lift heat exchanger and expansion valve market intelligence from our conventional ICE-based forecasts in to our E-Mobility offerings. We have also expanded our regional coverage of Water Pump data to be global, in line with other Thermal Management forecasts.
These enhancements are a direct response to customer feedback and our commitment to providing cutting-edge analytics. We look forward to supporting your needs with these new capabilities.
