Mainland China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued new regulations targeting autonomous driving technologies, effectively halting public beta testing, banning driverless features such as remote parking, and tightening marketing and software update rules. The move follows a high-profile incident involving an autonomous vehicle that resulted in three fatalities, prompting regulators to prioritize safety over rapid innovation.
