The Alliance argues NHTSA's AEB requirements as unfeasible, sparking lawsuit against the Department of Transportation

The Alliance for Automotive Innovation has filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration's Department of Transportation (DOT) in the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, challenging the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) finalized rule on automatic emergency braking (AEB) which is set to become effective on April 29, 2024. The NHTSA’s rule mandates fitment of AEB system that avoid collisions at speed up to 62 miles per hour (mph) and detect pedestrians and cyclists in various conditions, with braking capabilities up to 90 mph.
