China's Guangdong province advances autonomous vehicle development, setting the stage for the Greater Bay Area to become a major testing ground

The governments of key cities in China's Guangdong province have made a significant advancement in the realm of autonomous vehicle development by entering into a mutual recognition agreement for self-driving vehicle testing permits. Announced on Dec. 27, this agreement encompasses the areas of Qianhai and Bao'an in Shenzhen, the Nansha district in Guangzhou, and Hengqin Island in Zhuhai. This initiative facilitates companies in deploying their autonomous vehicles for public road testing across these locations, provided they obtain a permit from any of the involved local governments.
