Switzerland passes revised law to introduce automated driving in 2025
The Federal Council's ordinance, effective March 1, 2025, allows automated driving on motorways, specific routes, and in certain parking facilities
According to a press release on Dec. 13, Switzerland is set to implement new regulations governing automated driving, with an ordinance passed by the Federal Council scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2025. This development follows the Swiss Parliament's approval of a partial revision to the Road Traffic Act in the spring of 2023, aimed at accommodating both current and forthcoming advancements in automated driving technologies. Under this ordinance, automated driving will be sanctioned in three specific contexts: on motorways, on canton-approved routes, and within certain parking facilities.
