The Tata Group, a major Indian global enterprise, and Analog Devices (ADI), a leading global semiconductor company, have joined forces to enhance semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India, according to a report published by Autocar Professional on Sept. 19.

Through this strategic alliance, Tata Electronics, Tata Motors and Tejas Networks have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ADI to explore potential cooperative manufacturing opportunities, aiming to boost India's semiconductor ecosystem. This collaboration seeks to integrate ADI's advanced semiconductor products into applications developed by Tata, including electric vehicles, network infrastructure and energy storage solutions.

As part of their agreement, both Tata Group and ADI are committed to engaging in strategic roadmap discussions to further the development of an electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India catering to both local and international markets. N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, has expressed the group's dedication to building a semiconductor industry within the country and highlighted the potential benefits of this collaboration with ADI across the semiconductor value chain.

Tata Electronics has already announced significant investments in semiconductor manufacturing facilities in India, with $11 billion allocated for the country's first semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, and an additional $3 billion for a new assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The partnership will explore the manufacturing of ADI's products at these sites. Additionally, Tata Motors and ADI will investigate opportunities in energy storage and power electronics for vehicles, while Tejas Networks and ADI will consider collaborations in network infrastructure components, aiming to strengthen India's position in the global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector.
