Thanks to Cerence, Volkswagen rolls out ChatGPT to more group vehicles

Strategic Partnerships

As the first automaker to deploy Cerence Chat Pro, Volkswagen and Cerence are working well in tandem, with the automaker successfully rolling out a curated, automotive-grade implementation of ChatGPT across its many brands and the technology provider keeping up in meeting this demand.

Volkswagen is offering its new-generation infotainment system integrated with ChatGPT in more models. The artificial intelligence (AI)-based tool is available in all electric vehicle models offered by ID. family as well as in the new Golf, Tiguan and Passat. The advanced AI system, accessible via the IDA voice assistant, allows users to interact with their car using natural language for a range of functionalities that surpass traditional voice control. Capabilities extend to having search results read aloud and obtaining information on varied topics like tourist attractions and football tournaments without diverting attention from driving. The system operates without needing additional accounts beyond VW Connect/VW Connect Plus, ensuring ease of use. Data privacy is maintained as interactions with ChatGPT do not involve vehicle data access and are immediately deleted after processing.
