The non-display HMI technology landscape for cars
Digitalization of the vehicle cockpit is not being driven by displays alone but many other technologies that have applications in consumer electronics, material science, glass, and biometrics.
With the rise in connectivity and shared mobility use cases comes higher in-vehicle infotainment and entertainment aspirations for all vehicle occupants, further propagating the use of more displays and tactile screens. A lot, however, is also happening around the less visible technologies in the cockpit, i.e., those that do not feature displays but leverage an array of cameras and sensors to function.
