Fit for 55: The Council, European Parliament reach agreement on stricter CO2 emission standards
The Fit for 55 package aims to enable the EU to reduce its net GHG emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and to achieve climate neutrality by 2050
The Council and the European Parliament have reached a provisional political agreement on adopting the stricter carbon dioxide (CO2) emission performance standards for new cars and vans, according to a media release issued by the the Council of the European Union on 27 October 2022.
