General Motors/LG Energy JV Ultium Cells begins production at Ohio facility
At peak capacity, the Ultium Cells Ohio battery plant is expected to produce more than 40 GWh worth of batteries; to supply batteries to GM’s Ultium platform–based EVs
Ultium Cells, the battery joint venture between the US vehicle manufacturer General Motors and South Korean battery maker LG Energy Solution (LGES), has started the production of battery cells at its Ohio, US based plant, it said on 31 August 2022. The company said that as it continues to ramp up production volumes, it is focusing on providing training to the manpower at the plant, which is expected to create 1,300 new high-tech jobs at peak capacity.
