Hyundai launched first-generation Ioniq cars in 2016 and was the first platform to accommodate three electrified powertrains, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric

Hyundai Motor Company said on 3 June 2022 that it plans to discontinue the production of original or the first generation Ioniq cars at its Ulsan plant in South Korea from July 2022.
