Volvo Cars, Northvolt signed a binding agreement to form a joint venture, R&D center to come up in Gothenburg, will become operational in 2022

Swedish carmaker Volvo Cars and EV battery startup Northvolt plan to open a joint research and development (R&D) center in Gothenburg as part of their SEK30 billion (USD3.3 billion) investment plan to develop and manufacture next-generation batteries, the two companies announced on 10 December 2021.
