Stellantis and Samsung SDI to form lithium-ion battery production JV in North America


The companies plan to start a new battery plant in 2025 with initial capacity of 23 GWh

Stellantis and Samsung SDI have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a joint venture for production of battery cells and modules for North America, the former said in a press release on 22 October. The new plant, which is expected to start operations in 2025, will have an initial annual production capacity of 23 gigawatt hours, with the ability to increase up to 40 gigawatt hours in the future.
