Nissan in advanced talks with UK government to build battery gigafactory


OEM likely to set up new factory at Sunderland site; to employ Envision AESC to run new factory

Nissan is in advanced talks with the UK government to build a battery Gigafactory, reports Nikkie Asia. Nissan aims to make Britain its largest electric vehicle (EV) production hub outside of Japan. Nissan will employ its Chinese battery maker Envision AESC to run a new factory at the OEM’s existing Sunderland site. The factory is expected to support a production of 200,000 battery EVs annually as well as several jobs.
