Despite a very challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, automakers continued to expand their offerings in the field of user interface and user experience in 2020. Here are some of the highlights from the year gone by and what to expect in 2021 and beyond

Automakers and suppliers continued to deliver enhanced in-vehicle user experience in 2020 despite facing one of the most challenging business conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The year saw automakers equipping new models with more advanced displays, touchpads with touch feedback (haptic), digital car keys and virtual personal assistant (VPAs) even when the global light vehicle output took a major hit due to the pandemic. The industry witnessed companies introducing several breakthrough solutions in the fields of display, haptics, digital car key and VPAs, which are expected to further transform in vehicle experience in coming years. This trend is expected to further gather momentum in 2021.
