European Commission gets power to recall vehicles for breaching EU emission limits

The Commission will be able to carry out checks on cars, trigger EU-wide recalls, and impose fines of up to EUR30,000 (USD35,770.20) per car

The European Commission will begin applying new regulations which “overhauls and tightens the previous type approval and market surveillance system”, a press release on 31 August read.
