Volkswagen secures permit to test autonomous vehicles fleet in Hefei, mainland China

German automotive group is focusing on what it calls "5 Layers of autonomous Mobility-as-a-Service (AV MaaS)"

Volkswagen Group (VW) has secured a permit to test autonomous vehicles in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province in mainland China, the company said in a press release on 27 August. The German automotive group will start testing a fleet of autonomous Audi e-tron pure electric SUVs in Hefei’s Haiheng District from September 2020. The trials will be done on 80-kilometer (km) urban roads in mixed traffic with vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) scenarios.
