German automaker plans to make up the production during a scheduled off week this summer

Daimler will idle its Mercedes-Benz Cars assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, US, this week due to auto parts supply shortage from Mexico, Reuters reported on 16 May. The German automaker has given its workers options to either use vacation time or leave without pay and apply for state and federal unemployment benefits. Daimler plans to make up the production during a scheduled off week this summer (29 June to 1 July).
