COVID-19 pandemic: Automotive Supplier Plant Downtime Tracker

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused severe disruptions to automotive supply chain globally. Developments around the pandemic are very dynamic and fluid and result in low visibility on automotive suppliers’ operations. National governments across the regions are applying ever more stringent conditions on travel, social interaction, and workplace attendance to arrest the spread of the pandemic. Like their OEM customers, automotive suppliers are suspending production temporarily at a large scale in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Currently, it is uncertain whether suppliers will extend production downtime or further lower production rates in the weeks ahead. The Automotive Supply Chain and Technology team at IHS Markit will keep a close watch on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on suppliers’ manufacturing operations globally. The data presented in ‘Automotive Supplier Plant Downtime Tracker’ are intended to depict the latest status of supplier plant closures. With new information being released by automotive suppliers on a daily basis, the information in the tracker is subject to change. Changes in the data will be highlighted in blue in every new release of this tracker.
