COVID-19 pandemic: Automakers in India suspend production in many states


Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen have either stopped manufacturing operations or are gearing up to do so

Several automakers in India have announced temporary closures at their production facilities to prevent spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reuters reported on 22 March. The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki decided to halt operations at its facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar, both in Haryana, with an immediate effect until further notice. The company has also closed its R&D center in Rohtak, Haryana.
