New technology to help autonomous vehicle determine when it is safe to merge with traffic at intersection with obstructed views

Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Toyota have collaborated on developing a model that helps autonomous vehicles to determine when it is safe to merge into traffic at intersections with obstructed views, MIT announced in a press release on 4 November. The system helps to deal with the problem of blind spots for human drivers and autonomous driving vehicles alike.
