New 3D lighting technology offers entirely new possibilities in automotive applications

FEV has presented its innovative three-dimensional (3D) lighting concept for vehicle cockpit at the Aachen Colloquium Automobile and Engine Technology in Germany, the company said in a press release on 7 October. The solution, developed in-house, is based on light field technology and can be used to produce high-quality 3D images that can be seen without the need for glasses or other aids. According to FEV, the technology will allow creation of holographic operation elements such as a 3D controller or switch projected virtually from center consoles in future vehicles, which driver can comfortably operate by hand.
