Korean automaker is considering setting an electric battery facility in India to make its EVs more affordable

Hyundai plans to develop a new electric vehicle (EV) platform for the Indian market, The Times of India reported on 16 June, citing S S Kim, managing director of Hyundai Motor India. The South Korean automaker is considering investing INR200 billion (USD291.5 million) to develop an affordable EV, priced around INR1 million (USD14,575). The EV could be a compact SUV although different body types such as a hatchback are also under consideration.
