Magna strengthens presence in China with two new plants


JV plant in Changsha produces lightweight, composite liftgates; and a wholly-owned plant in Shanghai manufactures active aerodynamic grille shutters

Canadian automotive supplier Magna has expanded its presence in China with opening of two new manufacturing plants, the company said in a press release on 30 April. Magna’s first plant, located in Changsha, started production of composite liftgates for a crossover vehicle; the company has not disclosed name of its customer. The plant is operated as a joint-venture with GAC Component Co, a subsidiary of Chinese automaker GAC.
