Intelligent system projects images onto the road ahead to inform pedestrians of the car’s direction of travel

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has developed a system that projects the direction of travel onto the road ahead of a self-driving vehicle to inform pedestrians and other road users about its intention, the company said in a press release on 24 January. The intelligent system beams a series of projections to show when the self-driving vehicle is preparing to stop, pull away or turn left or right. In the future, JLR said, the projection could be used to share obstacle detection and journey updates with pedestrians.
